Web Development

The term covers a lot of aspects about creating a website, but this is where I can offer a complete package, and not just a bunch of web pages, whether you want 5 or 500. I can work from a design or mockup you provide, or I can bring in my own Associate designer to get a design that’s right for your site, before I built it.

Hosting

Very few web developers host sites themselves but invariably have preferred providers. I have my own favourite host who can guarantee 100% uptime, offer plenty of space, data transfers, mailboxes, and other benefits to match what you need. I know exactly what they offer, and can get help quickly for the client if something does go wrong.

Domain names

You can have one domain name or one main domain and several alternative addresses directing to the main address. Whichever you prefer, domain names are usually purchased in one or two-year blocks. Of course, any domain names I purchase become the property of the client once final payment has been made and it’s then up to the client to make renewal payments.

WordPress Installations

WordPress is an open source blogging platform or content management system which lets clients make content changes to their site without the need to pay a developer to come and make simple changes; clients can add new pages and keep their target audience up to date with new information. WordPress also supports plug-ins to provide extra functionality and I have my own list of recommended plug-ins.

Thesis Theme for WordPress

I’ve seen and studied a good few themes, but one of the most revolutionary premium themes for WordPress is Thesis. Built-in options, search engine optimisations and ready for quick customisation make Thesis a great framework to create new sites with half the work already done. I can install a default version of Thesis, or customise it for clients for an additional charge.

Social Networking

Having a presence in the social networking sphere is the minimum for most business these days, and I can help set you up on Twitter, on Facebook Pages etc. To really benefit though, you need to have an understanding of some of the concepts, and this is where my former skills as a teacher are put to use, as I offer training so that you feel comfortable in a world that may be completely new to you.

General Freelance

With a knowledge of PHP, Classic ASP, SQL, JavaScript, jQuery, (X)HTML, CSS and WordPress amongst other things, I’m also available to be hired on an hourly or daily basis to work on whatever project or task you’ve got that needs doing.
