Gamajo Tech is a small independent web development company based in Basingstoke, Hampshire, UK. I am able to work with other small businesses and individuals to create a website that achieves their business goal. I have 10 years of experience in creating websites.

Why use Gamajo?

Knowledge, Professionalism and Expertise.

I have 10 years experience in working with code on the web. It’s a background that distinguishes me from competitors who invariably come from graphics or print environments.

I make this point because companies or individuals seeking to create or revise their website need to begin the process at the right point of entry. Start with the design or the copy – or how the content will be managed or how the e-commerce elements will work – and you risk ending up with a site whose fundamental structure and functionality aren’t right. That’s bad news, because undoing and reworking a site can be time consuming and expensive.

Briefing a developer like me avoids these problems. I have a deep understanding of the benefits of proper structure and underlying code and I bring into play graphic designer, copywriter and other Gamajo associates when the time is right to deliver you a full website build package.

Communication Between You and Me

There’s no excuse for not keeping in contact when it’s your budget and my income on the line. I value giving my clients a run down of what’s been done, what’s in progress, and what’s the next step – this helps to guide the client and includes them at every stage of development.

Understanding

Some clients know exactly what they want. Maybe they are web developers themselves who just need some freelance work doing to easy their workload. In which case, believe me I can talk your language to get straight to the heart of the matter and produce the desired outcome.

Other clients may have little understanding about how computers or the web in general works. That’s fine too – as a former teacher I have the skills and patience to explain in simple terms what all the jargon means to ensure they aren’t left bewildered.

Making the Site Work For Everyone

Any code I create from scratch is written with usability and accessibility in mind. Usability simply means to make things as easy as possible to achieve, be it to browse information, send an enquiry, or purchase an item. Accessibility means to make something available for as wide as range of users as possible, by catering for their browsing conditions. This may be for the end user to be able to style the site how they want, or for the future maintenance and development to be made as easy and simple as possible.

All of this, for very little extra effort.”

I write to standards, and although this isn’t the cure-all for everything, it makes solid headway into making the site as cross-browser compatible as possible (so it is also available to those with text-to-speech or mobile browsers), increasing the natural Search Engine Optimisation (appearing higher in Google and other search engines) of having semantically correctly marked up content, and reduces the chances of bugs appearing (which saves both time and money in the future). All of this, for very little extra effort. Just think of these as added bonuses to whatever solution I create for you.

Search Engine Optimisation

Working with me will ensure that your site is search engine optimised, ie. it will be indexed by a search engine for targeted keywords and phrases. Those keywords are written into the text so that it reads as naturally as possible, but also into titles, headings and subheadings to give them the additional importance that search engines value.

Lead Generation

If your goal is to generate leads for you to convert in offline sales, then putting contact details on a site is one thing, but research suggests that people prefer to use a contact form or email. I can put together easy to use contact forms that are readily completed and submitted.

Building the Relationship

Add in features such as subscriptions (either RSS or opt-in newsletters), and a relationship with prospective customers can be built over time. They can be regularly reminded of your product or service’s features and benefits, keeping you front of mind when a prospect is looking for a particular solution.

Separating Code

Doing things the Right Way in web development means keeping the component parts as separate as possible. Content may be stored in a database, and pulled into a HTML template. This would be styled by CSS, and JavaScript would progressively enhance the behaviours on the page, for those that supported it. In short, it makes life simple, either for yourselves, or for the next person who works on your site (even if it’s someone else, they’ll appreciate it). That in turn, means greatly reduced costs for you.

Great Performance

Some technologies when implemented poorly can really slow an otherwise perfectly good site down to a crawl. If the time an average user is prepared to wait for a page to load is 8 seconds, it’s vitally important that the content is delivered to them promptly before they give up and look elsewhere. I optimise my code and images, and can suggest implementing higher level performance optimisations where possible and needed.

While you may not feel these concepts have a direct influence on you, it’s working towards these ideals that generates the high-quality website you’re after.

There’s more to creating a few web pages than just writing the content in your favourite office software and uploading it somewhere. Contact me and I’ll take care of all the subtle technicalities that many web designers are not aware of.
